We had our friend Zane and his parents Ruha & Jason over for playtime on Sunday. Everyone had a blast. Here are a few other shots from the weekend as well.

We had the pleasure of seeing a dear friend from the Illinois days in town for a business visit. Good to see you Jeff! Thanks for the Texas Gear for the little ones :)
We went out to the coast this weekend with some friends for some camping in our new 9 person (think circus) tent on Saturday night. There were a few bumps in the road (say between...1:00 and 3:00 a.m. :) but overall...things went great. Many thanks to all of the helping hands from Mike, Jillian, Tracy and Wes.
circus time. thought we would give you a peak into what the waning hours of the Herd's life are about. here is what goes down after the dinner, the bath, the change into the nighties, the gathering and herding of the troops to wander up the stairs, the battle of the teeth brushing, the "hope hope hope" that Seb has not powered down the remainder of everyone else's bottle and pulls a Linda Blair all over the room (and cribs).
Had a nice gathering with some other triplet families this past weekend. Was nice to trade a few stories, see what is in store for us a few years down the road...and see a few familes reaching that "one year crest" that is a blurry sleep-deprived haze in our rear-view. Our gang had a blast. I think they were a bit baffled at first with all of the babies, but figured it all out. All of the triplets seem to have the same wise grin. They trade glances and wink when the parents aren't looking. I am sure that the Herd has soem advice to offer to the younger ones..
Seb : "I'm a big fan of wakinng up at 2:00 in the morning, letting out a shreik (I can always hear Poppy crack his head on the bedboard) and then wait for fifteen minutes until they fall back asleep."
Dylan : "Yep. Seb usually tosses a stuffed frog into my crib when Poppy starts snoring. I will then crawl out of my crib, monkey down the side and sneak up to their door. I yell MOMMY LOOK AT THIS real loud."
Elle: "After Mommy carries Dylan back in, I will lay there grinning. Once Mommy goes back and they fall back asleep. I am a HUGE fan of waiting at least 30 minutes until the third stage of REM sleep kicks in. Seb and I usually play a game of Bridge with the flashlight that I snagged from Poppy's den. Dylan counts the rungs on our cribs and logs them in his Tally book he keeps under his crib. Then...I yell BINKIE, BINKIE....WHERE IS MY BINKIE!!!! Mommy starts to wimper and then Poppy always bashes his shin on the hallway fan when he tries to run into the room."
liz and I have managed to sneak in two nice bike rides over the weekend to some parks. snapped off a few quick shots. the summer seems to be winding down a bit. the little ones have been diggin the backyard. hours of fun playing in the sandbox, hunting spiders or just casting a glance upward at the different clouds in the sky.
hope you all are well and enjoying the summer sun. we all know here in Portland to soak it up plenty...for the rain is always around the bend.
We packed it up and headed out to the coast for the weekend. Just a bit north up to Long Beach, Washington to a wonderful little house that our freinds Kathy and Ken let us have for the weekend (thanks!). We had a bit of rain, some nice beach walks and the company of our Godmother (and the Herd's second mother) Becky. Laurie and her Nephew Ben joined us or a night with their dog Carter. It was the little ones first experience with a dog other than the casual pass by on the streets and they had a blast. Seb was a bit cautious at first, but warmed up. Here are some pix and video.
We packed up the crew and headed back to Illinois for a visit to the family. The Herd survived the flight just fine. Liz and I could not move by the time we reached Chicago. We had a three hour layover in Minneapolis and had a brief visit with Liz's sister Laura and family. Our three hours were actually whittled down to @ 45 minutes. Getting through security and boarding the plane was insane. We were a complete sideshow freakfest in the airport. You could hear the circus music start the first few seconds. I was walking our Chariot stroller with three huge cumbersome Britax car seats stacked and tied with climbing rope. Liz was moving at two miles and hour with the Herd on three leashes; all of them in full kenetic fury in different directions. Two business guys passed us in Minneapolis and I heard one whisper to the other "Man O Man. Just shoot me!" Several families stopped in horror / fascination and just pointed with slacked jaw. Several people just came up and started chatting to us non-stop like Liz and I were at Starbucks relaxing with a a cup of joe with all of the time in the world to kill. The little ones did great on the flight. Here is a video of them all strapped in. There are a few different postings here with pictures. We are heading out to the beach this weekend for a little mini-vacation and I am sure several caloric-burning walks to keep up with Herd on the beach. Will post some new pix and video.
*We lost a great women in our family this past week. For all who new her, the world shall never be the same. Libby meant a great deal to everyone in the family and will surely be missed. I am happy that Seb, Elle & Dylan had a chance to meet her in Kentucky on our visit..
